Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep girls basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Sienna Betts of
Grandview (Aurora) is the 2023-24 Colorado MaxPreps Player of the Year for the second straight season. The 6-foot-4 junior center led the Wolves to the Class 6A state tournament.
For the season, Betts averaged 22.5 points, 15.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.2 steals per game. She shot 64 percent from the field with a high of 35 points in a December win over Windsor.

Betts flirted with a triple-double on several occasions. In a 55-44 win over Willammette (Ore.) in December, she posted 21 points, 28 rebounds and six assists. Three weeks later in a win over Valor Christian (Highlands Ranch), she piled up 25 points, 23 rebounds and seven assists.
Grandview has won 51 games and two state titles over the past three seasons thank in part to Betts. She committed to play for the UCLA Bruins in November.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released April 11. Past selections include 2023 WNBA Most Valuable Player Breanna Stewart (2012) as well as 2023 All-WNBA first team picks Napheesa Collier (2015), Alyssa Thomas (2010) and A'ja Wilson (2014).
