North is 8-2 against Kenston since March of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The North Rangers will head out on the road to take on the Kenston Bombers at 7:00 p.m. North is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
North scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They walked away with a 58-47 win over Shaker Heights.
North relied on the efforts of Samantha Cantrell, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, and Cami Welty, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Welty has scored all season. Alex Hamilton was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Kenston suffered their biggest defeat since December 11, 2023 on Thursday. They suffered a tough 60-37 loss at the hands of Mayfield. While losing is never fun, Kenston can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 573rd, while Mayfield is ranked 285th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Alexis Black, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Regan Trusley, who scored six points.
North's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Kenston, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: North have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Kenston struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for North against Kenston in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 68-31 victory. With North ahead 41-19 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
