The Nevada Union Miners fell victim to the Oakmont Vikings''s stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 41-0 loss at the hands of the Vikings. Having soared to a lofty 42 points in the game before, Nevada Union couldn't push the score so high this time.
Oakmont got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Manuel Matta out in front who rushed for 36 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown. Oakmont also got a significant boost from Chris Tostado, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 104 yards.
Nevada Union's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6-1. As for Oakmont, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1-1.
Nevada Union will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Ponderosa at 6:00 p.m. Ponderosa is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Oakmont, they will face off against Placer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
