Rios also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making 11 total tackles. Another rusher making a difference was Shaysan Rivero, who gained 101 total yards.
Even if they lost, Reed's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Rios, Raymond Maveni, and Oscar Casarez, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, after only six points in their last game, Damonte Ranch made sure to put some points up on the board against Galena on Friday. The Mustangs claimed a resounding 33-6 victory over the Grizzlies. Considering the Mustangs have won three contests by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Reed better keep an eye on Christian Diehl. He was instrumental in Damonte Ranch's win, throwing for 164 yards and a pair of TDs, while also catching one score.
Damonte Ranch's run defense was locked in: Galena could only muster 0.1 yards per carry. While eight picked up at least one total tackle, Amari Nash stood above the rest. He picked up 77 receiving yards and one touchdown. Damonte Ranch didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.2.
Damonte Ranch's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-4. As for Reed, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Everything came up roses for Reed against Damonte Ranch in their previous meeting back in October of 2023, as the squad secured a 48-6 victory. In that matchup, the Raiders amassed a halftime lead of 34-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
