Adding to the longest winning streak in MAIS AAA I District 1 this week, Jackson Academy beat Washington 28-0. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Raiders.
Madison-Ridgeland Academy took down Heritage Academy 53-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The Patriots' Caleb Shufelt and Zach McCraw have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Shufelt has thrown for 1,955 yards this season, while McCraw has 60 catches for 766 yards. Jackson Academy's Duncan Maxwell leads the league in rushing yards with 1,135.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Jackson Academy takes on second place Madison-Ridgeland Academy. Last week, David Skyes' team beat the Generals, while Madison-Ridgeland Academy topped the Patriots.
Going into this week's game against Jackson Prep, Forrest Williams' team's Shufelt needs 45 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
The Patriots made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,611 from 1,735. The improvement was largely due to a 53-0 victory over Heritage Academy last week.
