The Broadalbin-Perth Patriots will face off against the Coxsackie-Athens Riverhawks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Broadalbin-Perth will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Amsterdam on Friday. The Patriots blew past the Rams 11-3. The win continues a trend for the Patriots in their matchups with the Rams: they've now won four in a row.

Broadalbin-Perth saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Shields, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Shields has become a key player for the Patriots: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Brady Vanvoast was another, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Broadalbin-Perth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Coxsackie-Athens entered their tilt with Albany Academy for Boys on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Cadets with a sharp 9-1 victory. Considering the Riverhawks have won 13 contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Andrew Sager was a standout: he got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Alex Slater, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Coxsackie-Athens' win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Broadalbin-Perth, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Broadalbin-Perth has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Coxsackie-Athens struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Broadalbin-Perth might still be hurting after the 10-4 loss they got from Coxsackie-Athens when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Patriots have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
