Concord Academy found their leader in freshman Justice Alexander, who went 11-for-20 en route to 30 points and five boards. The contest was Alexander's 15th in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Taylor Smith, who posted seven points and seven assists.
Concord Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Grace Christian strolled past Asheville School (Independent) with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 70-54. Given the Crusaders' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Blues are ranked 34th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grace Christian's win came from a few key players Concord Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kyndoll English, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and 19 rebounds. She has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last ten times she's played. AdAorA Mogbo was another key player, putting up 17 points and eight rebounds.
Concord Academy's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-6. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 47 points. As for Grace Christian, their win bumped their record up to 21-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Concord Academy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.6 boards per game. However, it's not like Grace Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.3 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Concord Academy was dealt a bruising 73-32 defeat at the hands of Grace Christian in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Concord Academy was down 47-21.
