4A Region 1 recap September 10, 2013
Corinth moved up to 80 from 109 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region 1. The Warriors were able to make move up by defeating Lewisburg 27-7.
Shannon fell to Tupelo 47-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Tishomingo County's dynamic duo of Blake Hawkins and Brannon Gamble proved tough for Belmont to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hawkins threw for 341 yards and 5 touchdowns and Gamble had 196 yards receiving. Jackson Haines helped Tishomingo County's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 72 yards.
The Braves' dynamic duo of Hawkins and Gamble proved to be unstoppable against the Cardinals, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Gamble was the best wideout in the league this week as Tishomingo County fell to Belmont.
Hawkins put up the best numbers through the air as Lanny Jones' team fell to Kerry Moody's team.
He was 14-28 with 1 interceptions.
Fred Garth was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 20 carries, he ran for 157 yards as Amory lost to the Cardinals. Jalen Holland also contributed to the rushing game with 44 yards on the ground.
Leading 4A Region 1 in both passing and receiving yards, Tishomingo County's Hawkins and Gamble have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-5 quarterback Hawkins has thrown for 411 yards this season, while Gamble has 5 catches for 196 yards. The Panthers' Garth leads the league in rushing yards with 347.
Corinth made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,177 from 4,536. The improvement came about via a 27-7 victory over the Patriots last week.
