2A-2 Region III District 10 recap October 1, 2013
Union Grove moved up to 916 from 966 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A-2 Region III District 10. The Lions climbed the ranks as a result of defeating West Rusk 29-27.
Garrison added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Arp, 42-13. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
The Raiders' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. George Anthony threw for 93 yards and Dakota McCoy had 93 yards receiving. On the ground Anthony chipped in 220 yards.
West Rusk's dynamic duo of Anthony and McCoy proved tough for Union Grove to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Anthony was a beast in the backfield as John Frazier's team lost to Roger Adams' team.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Thomas Reese. The Arp star has 11 catches for 236 yards.
Anthony of the the Raiders is just 12 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 110 carries Anthony has accumulated 988 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Hawkins takes on Garrison. As it stands, the Hawks are in third, while Craig Barker's team is in first.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Hawkins takes on the Bulldogs. Keith Cook's team has allowed 83 points this season, while Garrison has given up 78.
The league will see a high scoring game when Arp and West Rusk face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Dale Irwin's team comes in having scored 107 this season, while the Raiders have scored 124. The Tigers scored 13 points last week as they lost to the Bulldogs.
Garrison took down Arp 42-13 last week, the largest margin of any game.
