Clairton put the hurt on Leechburg with a sharp 70-44 victory on Friday. Given Clairton's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 351st, while Leechburg is ranked 723rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Clairton found their leader in underclassman Taris Wooding, who scored 20 points. Mike Wright jr. was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Clairton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. As for Leechburg, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
Clairton will be playing in front of their home fans against Jeannette at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jeannette is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Leechburg, they will take on Springdale at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Springdale has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 583 points over their last eight contests.
