The Spring Lions will head out on the road to face off against The Woodlands Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Spring can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They really took it to Eisenhower for the full four quarters, racking up a 40-10 win at home. The win was just what Spring needed coming off of a 44-24 loss in their prior contest.
Spring's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Delonte Henderson, who rushed for 57 yards and two touchdowns, and Tre?Sean Cunningham, who rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
Meanwhile, The Woodlands unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak two weeks ago. They fell 60-52 to Willis.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Mabrey Mettauer and Derek Lagway. Lagway had a great game and rushed for 220 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Meanwhile, Mettauer was balling out in the loss, rushing for 23 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 177 yards and a touchdown while completing 84.6% of his passes.
Spring's win bumped their season record to 5-5 while The Woodlands' loss dropped theirs to 7-3.
Thursday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Spring has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 262.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like The Woodlands struggles in that department as they've been averaging 155.5 per game. It's looking like Thursday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
