Basketball Game Preview: Johnson City Eagles vs. Junction Eagles

Johnson City will take on Junction at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Johnson City has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

On Wednesday, Johnson City made easy work of San Saba and carried off a 62-40 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Collin Corpus and Brady Odiorne were among the main playmakers for Johnson City as the former shot 63% from the field en route to 26 points along with five assists and five boards and the latter went 8-for-17 to rack up 22 points and seven rebounds. Corpus is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 25 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Tyler Earley, who posted two points and five boards.

Johnson City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. They are a perfect 5-0 when they hit their own glass that hard.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Wednesday. Junction came up short against Goldthwaite, falling 68-45. While losing is never fun, Junction can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 976th, while Goldthwaite is ranked 477th).

Johnson City's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-13. As for Junction, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.
