On Friday, The Milford Buccaneers faced the Laurel Bulldogs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Milford walked away with a 15-6 victory over Laurel. The win was just what Milford needed coming off of a 52-30 loss in their prior contest.
Jack Hudson threw for 34 yards and a touchdown. Jaleel Freshwater was his top target, picking up 34 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, Charles Shorts rushed for 82 yards.
Milford's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-2. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely Laurel, Concord, and Mount Pleasant. As for Laurel, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Milford will take on Sussex Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Delaware (Sussex Tech is ranked 29th, while Milford is ranked 22nd). As for Laurel, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Delmar at 12:00 p.m.
