Baseball Recap: Nicholas County Has No Trouble Against Princeton

Nicholas County's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against the Princeton Tigers as they made off with a 15-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Grizzlies, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Ira Mylott made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Nicholas County is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 9-10 otherwise. Mylott was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Caleb Burns was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Cain Ferrell also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Nicholas County's record now sits at 12-10. As for Princeton, they dropped their record down to 3-22 with the loss, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Nicholas County will be playing in front of their home fans against Ripley at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Princeton, they will head out to challenge WestSide at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
