Bryant Johnson Drops League-Best Effort on Saturday
Starting off the list is Palo Verde's Bryant Johnson, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Johnson rushed for 211 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry.
Palo Verde's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5. Johnson and Palo Verde will be playing in front of their home fans against Sierra Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Green Valley Wins Fourth-Straight Thanks to Esteban Martinez
Green Valley picked up their fourth consecutive win on Saturday thanks in part to Esteban Martinez. Nobody could stop Martinez as he rushed for 30 yards and a touchdown.
Green Valley pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Martinez and Green Valley will challenge Shadow Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

A Season-Best Effort from Zaione Henderson Leads Legacy over Shadow Ridge
On Saturday, Legacy got the W thanks in part to Zaione Henderson playing the best football he has all season. Henderson rushed for 77 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 30 receiving yards and a touchdown. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 75 yards.
The victory (which was Legacy's third in a row) raised their record to 5-3. Henderson and Legacy will venture away from home to challenge Faith Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Jakari Burrell Makes It Two for Palo Verde
The second Palo Verde player making an appearance here is Jakari Burrell, and for good reason. He picked up two sacks and made nine total tackles (5.0 for loss). Thanks to that strong showing, he's now averaging 5.4 total tackles per game. He is becoming a predictor of Palo Verde's success: when he posts at least two sacks the team is 2-1 (and 0-4 when he doesn't).
