The Belleview Christian Bruins's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 51-19 defeat at the hands of Lone Star. Belleview Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-9.
Belleview Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Harjas Thiara, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals. Thiara hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Ivy Esch, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Belleview Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Lone Star got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Amanda Kubitz out in front who scored five points along with 11 rebounds and eight steals. Peytyn Kuntz was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals.
Belleview Christian's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Lone Star, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Belleview Christian will face off against the Bison at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Flatirons Academy will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Lone Star, they will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Ally Hardwick and Aleighcea Kuntz.
