Lugoff-Elgin not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Blythewood between 20 and 21 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-21, 25-21.
Among those leading the charge was Maren Cox, who had 13 digs and three aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in September.
Meanwhile, Ridge View didn't have quite enough to beat Spring Valley on Thursday and fell 3-2. While the Blazers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Vikings 25-10 in the first set.
Ridge View actually scored more points across those five sets (106-98), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 10-25, 25-21, 25-22, 23-25, 15-13.
Ridge View's loss dropped their record down to 9-7-1. As for Lugoff-Elgin, their victory bumped their record up to 14-3.
Everything went Lugoff-Elgin's way against Ridge View in their previous meeting back in September, as Lugoff-Elgin made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Demons since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
