In this week's postseason power rankings action, one team rose to the occasion while another fell hard. A special shoutout goes to DePaul Catholic's junior Taquan Roberson, who scored six total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Can't Touch This
Greenwich got a 48 - 20 win over Xavier last week, and a key reason for the win was junior Tysen Comizio. Comizio earned four touchdowns and 253 yards rushing the ball. That performance made Comizio one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
On paper, the match between Archbishop Stepinac (6th in the power rankings) and St. Anthony's (7th) looked as though it might be one of the more compelling ones, but things did not play out that way on the field. Archbishop Stepinac blew past St. Anthony's 47 - 22. The dominant performance adds to Archbishop Stepinac's intimidating total: it now has five blowout victories so far this season.
No Stoppin 'Em
Manalapan and Freehold Township went up, up, and away last week as they combined for the highest point total (85) among all power ranked teams. Manalapan put the hurt on Freehold Township with a conclusive 63 - 22 victory. Despite Manalapan's win, the team was passed up by other teams in the power rankings and gave up five spots in the rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Lindenhurst (19th in the power rankings) and Oceanside (15th). Both teams are entering with last-week wins under their belts. Both the Lindenhurst and Oceanside defenses have allowed few points this year (averaging 8.25 ppg and 12 ppg, respectively), so the teams might find scoring more difficult than usual this week.
