The Niagara Falls Wolverines will be home for the holidays to greet the Olympic Trojans at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Niagara Falls' favor as the team sits on 11 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Olympic has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 81-51, which was the final score in Niagara Falls' tilt against Bishop Timon-St. Jude last Saturday. While losing is never fun, Niagara Falls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while Bishop Timon-St. Jude is ranked 42nd).
Meanwhile, Olympic pushed their score all the way to 60 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of East Gaston by a score of 63-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Saturday (59), Olympic still had to take the loss.
RANDY JOHNSON put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 28 points. He scored a full 46.7% of Olympic's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was DEANGELO HALL, who scored six points along with seven steals.
Even though they lost, Olympic were working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Niagara Falls' loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-1. As for Olympic, they have fallen quite a ways from their 23-5 record last season and are now at 2-7.
