While Sumner's win against Rogers wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Spartans had just enough and edged out the Rams 3-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Spartans also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Wyatt Plyler made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Plyler was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Plyler wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Xander Cypher, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Sumner has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Rogers, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Sumner will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Rams: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
