The Wapahani Raiders will take on the Alexandria-Monroe Tigers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Wapahani, yet to win a game, are hoping to taste some of the success that has characterized Alexandria-Monroe's (thus far) undefeated season.
Wapahani is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They lost 20-5 to Shenandoah on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Wapahani has suffered against Shenandoah since May 22, 2017.
Briley Kahalekomo was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, Alexandria-Monroe got themselves on the board against Oak Hill on Thursday, but Oak Hill never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Golden Eagles. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won five matchups by 15 runs or more so far this season.
Brynlee Humphries made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Stella Griffin was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Riley Thomas, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Alexandria-Monroe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oak Hill only posted an OBP of .250.
Alexandria-Monroe pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 13.4 runs thus far. As for Wapahani, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
Wapahani suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Alexandria-Monroe in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
