After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Burns, Cherryville was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They never let the East Gaston Warriors get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Ironmen, who have now won ten games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Brock Bumgardner was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Kenan Fowler was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Bryson Withers was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.
Cherryville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Gaston only posted an OBP of .167.
Cherryville's record is now 16-2. As for East Gaston, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7.

Meanwhile, East Gaston is set to challenge their familiar foe West Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
