Seymour and Morristown-Hamblen East are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. Seymour fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against A.C. Reynolds on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 6-5.
Drew Childress stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Baird, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Morristown-Hamblen East also fell in extra-innings eight innings action on Tuesday. They fell just short of Chuckey-Doak by a score of 11-10. The Hurricanes' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it six in a row.
Parker Setsor was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Carson Winstead made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Tucker Wyatt was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Morristown-Hamblen East's loss dropped their record down to 6-19-1. As for Seymour, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-12.
Everything went Seymour's way against Morristown-Hamblen East when the teams last played back in March, as Seymour made off with an 8-0 win. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hurricanes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
