Southwestern recap October 1, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Laquan Williams and Brandon Presley connected against Chino Hills. The connection went for 69 yards, the longest such play in Southwestern this season.
Murrieta Mesa extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Lakeside, 49-7. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Williams threw for 437 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 20-38 with 2 interceptions.
Presley had an awesome week catching the football as Great Oak lost to the Huskies. He caught 7 passes for 263 yards.
Peyton Uhl was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 143 yards on 9 carries as Murrieta Mesa fell to Chino Hills. Teammate Jacob Palega added to the ground attack by rushing for 52 yards.
Leading Southwestern in both passing and receiving yards, Great Oak's Williams and Presley have proven to be a lethal combination. Williams has thrown for 942 yards this season, while Presley, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 20 catches for 520 yards. Murrieta Valley's Michael Robles leads the league in rushing yards with 771.
Justin J. Schaeffer's team took down the Lancers 49-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Uhl threw for 82 yards and ran for 143 yards during the win.
