Sevier County has won four straight games at home, while PikeView has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. PikeView's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: Sevier County hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Smoky Bears never let South-Doyle get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Smoky Bears, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Jade Hubbard made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.
In other batting news, Riley Mae Burrell was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Ashley Morgan was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
Meanwhile, PikeView hadn't done well against Greenbrier West recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Panthers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cavaliers, sneaking past 4-3.
Shelby Maddox spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, PikeView's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Zoey Tupper, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Sevier County's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for PikeView, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-11.
