4A Region 3 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Pocahontas extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region 3 this week by beating Valley View, 36-8. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Redskins.
Highland took down Brookland 46-12 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The Bearcats' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dylan Works threw for 119 and two touchdowns and Brett Robinson had 55 yards receiving. On the ground Kevin Cantwell chipped in 104 yards. Blake Yarbrough helped Brookland's passing attack out by catching three balls for 30 yards.
Brookland's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bearcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Works has thrown for 310 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Jordan Montgomery has three catches for 80 yards. Cantwell leads the league in rushing with 619 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Brookland takes on Pocahontas. Kelly Mills's team is in third place, while Dave Williams's team is in first place.
The Rebels led 4A Region 3 in scoring this week after putting up 46 points on the Bearcats.
