The Gates County Red Barons were the 20-18 winner over the Perquimans Pirates when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Gates County took a 27-18 hit to the loss column at the hands of Perquimans on Friday. Gates County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Perquimans to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jarmon Overton, who rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown. Braylon Knapp was another key contributor, punching in a rushing scores.
Gates County has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Perquimans, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gates County will take on Weldon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Weldon is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Perquimans, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against East Columbus at 7:00 p.m.
