With a playoff game on the line, the American Heritage Patriots rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top against the Chiefs by a score of 47-35. The victory was familiar territory for American Heritage who now have eight in a row.
Byron Louis was his usual excellent self, rushing for 230 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.
Cardinal Gibbons' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Patrick Anderson jr., who rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Cedric Wyche ll, who rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
American Heritage's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Cardinal Gibbons, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.
American Heritage will stay at home for another week and welcome Berkeley Prep at 7:30 p.m. on December 1st. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Berkeley Prep: 13.8, American Heritage: 15.5) so any points scored will be well earned. Cardinal Gibbons does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
