The Fox Chapel Foxes will face off against the Pine-Richland Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Fox Chapel has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Fox Chapel is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-10 victory over Shaler Area on Wednesday.
Joey Geller made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Geller was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Noah Hughes looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Milan Fluhme and Elias George did most of the damage at the plate: Fluhme went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while George went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits George has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Krushinski, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Fox Chapel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Pine-Richland entered their tilt with North Allegheny on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 14-8 win. That six-run margin sets a new team best for the Rams this season.
Jayse Grilli looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, Kyler Bell was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Austin Cwynar was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.
The victory got Fox Chapel back to even at 2-2. As for Pine-Richland, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Fox Chapel has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Pine-Richland struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Fox Chapel skirted past Pine-Richland 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Will the Foxes repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
