The Hialeah Thoroughbreds entered their tilt with the Dr. Krop Lightning with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. Hialeah sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 24-21 win over Dr. Krop on Friday. This was payback for Hialeah, who suffered a 23-18 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Leading Hialeah to victory were Alex Jackson and Ryan Mathis. Jackson rushed for 37 yards and two touchdowns, while Mathis rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown. Mathis was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards.
Hialeah's victory was their third straight on the road , which pushed their record up to 9-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 Carol City and 4-6 Dr. Krop (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 39.3% over those games). As for Dr. Krop, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Hialeah will be playing at home against Southridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dr. Krop does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
