Cairo extended the longest winning streak in AAAA Region 1 this week by beating Albany, 42-7. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Syrupmakers.
Cairo took down the Indians 42-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Westover's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. T.J. Cromer threw for 203 and two touchdowns and Jackie Childs had 100 yards receiving. On the ground Dalviness Greene chipped in 148 yards. Jaquri Shingles helped Westover's passing attack out by catching three balls for 34 yards.
Westover's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Patriots feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cromer has thrown for 1057 yards and seven touchdowns this season, while Childs has 11 catches for 231 yards. Greene leads the league in rushing with 825 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Americus-Sumter takes on Tom Fallaw's team. As it stands, the Panthers are in fourth, while the Syrupmakers are in second.
The Patriots made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,605 from 2,879. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 16-14 victory over Americus-Sumter last week.
