Geneva County had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-17 to make it eight. They came up short against the Samson Tigers, falling 18-1. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.
Geneva County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Raine Dunn, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
As for Samson, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-8. Considering they have won nine contests by more than ten runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Samson's side, Ryleigh Jackson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Jackson has posted since back in April of 2025. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Holly Warren was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Ally Zorn, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Looking ahead, Geneva County will face off against Northside Methodist Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Samson, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Pleasant Home at 4:30 p.m. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.36 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
