The Linn County Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Milan Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Linn County is no doubt hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, Linn County took a serious blow against Green City, falling 58-24. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Linn County in their matchups with Green City: they've now lost nine in a row.
Meanwhile, Milan pushed their score all the way to 64 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 74-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Higbee.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Marian Dabney, who scored 23 points along with five assists and two blocks. She has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emerson Pauley, who scored 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Linn County's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Milan, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.
Linn County beat Milan 56-47 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Linn County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
