South Central recap October 1, 2013
Kinney Myles of Carlinville ran for the longest rushing play in South Central this season against Staunton last week. Myles' team beat the Bulldogs as he sprinted for 90 yards on the play and finished with 142 in all.
Carlinville moved up to 193 from 229 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. Chad Easterday's team climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Staunton 34-14.
Myles provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Cavaliers topped Mike Parmentier's team. Myles' favorite target this week was Ben Rogers, who caught 2 passes for 23 yards.
Mason Nichols made the biggest impact on defense this week as Roxana fell to Greenville. The 6-foot-0 senior grabbed 3.0 sacks.
Joeb Easterday and Myles gave Carlinville a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Easterday threw for 41 yards, while Myles ran for 142 yards. Teammate Garet Gwillim added to the ground attack by rushing for 124 yards.
The Bulldogs' Jake Bruhn and Marcus Sitko have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Bruhn has thrown for 398 yards this season, while Sitko, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 14 catches for 246 yards. Myles from the Cavaliers leads the league in rushing with 866 yards.
A big matchup in South Central this week will be when Gillespie takes on Carlinville. The Miners are currently in second, while the Cavaliers are in fourth.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, the Comets beat the Shells 41-24. The win marks fifth in a row for the Greenville.
