Softball Recap: Eagle Has No Trouble Against Centennial

Eagle barely beat Centennial the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs blew past the Patriots 13-5 on Friday. Considering the Mustangs have won six contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Peyton Bargen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off three home runs and four RBI while going 4-for-4. What's more, she posted three runs, the most she's had since back in March.

In other batting news, Makenzie Owens was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Emry Woods was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Eagle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .395. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Eagle and bumps their season record up to 9-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Centennial, they dropped their record down to 9-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eagle will face off against Timberline at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Centennial, they will challenge Borah at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
