King/Drew is 2-8 against Harbor Teacher since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Golden Eagles will square off against the Monarchs at 2:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
King/Drew took a loss when they played away from home on April 9th, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on April 10th. They put the hurt on Dorsey with a sharp 17-5 victory.
Jordan Garcia made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, King/Drew got a massive performance out of Xeniya Anderson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Anderson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Walker, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with six stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
King/Drew always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Harbor Teacher sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Dorsey on Monday.
Like King/Drew, Harbor Teacher also got a great game from a two-way player: Lexi Cetina. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Cetina was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run.
Cetina wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Candice Gutierrez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Harbor Teacher pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for King/Drew, their record now sits at 6-13.
King/Drew might still be hurting after the 20-9 loss they got from Harbor Teacher in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
