Jeremiah Alvarado and Kevin Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Alvarado went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Smith got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Alvarado is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played. Isaias Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Bulls College Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Westmont had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it nine on Wednesday. They blew past the Pumas 20-1. The Sentinels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by seven runs or more this season.
Rocco Damato and Nathaniel Ollier made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Damato pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Ollier tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. At the plate, Damato got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI and one run, while Ollier went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Briggs Templeton was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Ricky Yenkin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Westmont pushed their record up to 19-8-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Bulls College Prep, their record now sits at 4-7.
Saturday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bulls College Prep has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .489. However, it's not like Westmont struggles in that department as they've averaged .474. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
