After flying high against Bacon Academy last Monday, Waterford came back down to earth. The Waterford Lancers fell 3-1 to the Valley Regional Warriors on Tuesday. The Lancers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.
While Waterford had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-18, 22-25, 25-22.
Jennifer Macca-Barnes paced Waterford's offense, picking up 16 kills. Macca-Barnes got some help from
Danica Agsalud and her 17 assists. Macca-Barnes was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.
With the loss, Waterford broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-7. As for Valley Regional, their win bumped their record up to 18-2.
Waterford has already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against East Lyme on the 28th. Valley Regional does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
