The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Poudre Community Academy in their matchups with Ascent Classical Academy: they've now lost three in a row.
The losing side was boosted by Joslyn Schaeffer, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Wellington scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They snuck past Frontier Academy with a 47-41 win. The victory was some much needed relief for Wellington as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wellington to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brookelyn Jones, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Ava Essay, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Poudre Community Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Wellington, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.
Poudre Community Academy was dealt a bruising 46-11 defeat at the hands of Wellington in their previous matchup back in February of 2023.
