The Clinton Prairie Gophers will head out to square off against the Tri-County Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Clinton Prairie comes in on three and Tri-County on six.
Clinton Prairie is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over Attica on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Sadie Weliver made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Clinton Prairie let Kadie Fearnow and Brenna Riley run wild. Fearnow went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base, while Riley went 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Fearnow has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Alexis Perez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Clinton Prairie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matches.
Nine must be Tri-County's lucky number: they beat Benton Central with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Cavaliers put the hurt on the Bison with a sharp 9-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Cavaliers, who have now won five games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Grace Luck made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jayden Martin was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Bella Dominguez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Tri-County pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.5 runs this season. As for Clinton Prairie, their record is now 5-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Clinton Prairie has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Tri-County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Clinton Prairie suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Tri-County when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Gophers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
