Hamilton has gone 9-1 against Desert Vista recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Huskies will challenge the Thunder. Hamilton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Hamilton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over Higley. The Huskies not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9th (when they won 11-1).
Boston Kellner made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and only one walk). In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nico Linville, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ben Ball, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Hamilton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 13 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Desert Vista faced Millennium in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Thunder came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 8-4. That's two games straight that the Thunder have won by exactly four runs.
Desert Vista also got a great performance from Brock MacDonald as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. MacDonald has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Benjamin Romaine was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Sammy Skinner was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
Hamilton has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Desert Vista, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-10.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hamilton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .342. However, it's not like Desert Vista struggles in that department as they've averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hamilton skirted past Desert Vista 8-7 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
