Softball Recap: Eldorado Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Eldorado had to endure a ten-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the Desert Pines Jaguars on Monday as they made off with a 21-2 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Firehawks needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Rachel Figueroa made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Kaliyah Guillory and Alma De Dios did most of the damage at the plate: Guillory got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while De Dios got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases Guillory has posted since back in March. Gallegos Ariel was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Eldorado picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 3-13. As for Desert Pines, they are on a 28-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Coming up, Eldorado will be playing in front of their home fans against Spring Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Firehawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Grizzlies have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season. As for Desert Pines, they are taking a road trip to take on Rancho at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
