Archbishop Spalding extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping them up to 8-6. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the John Carroll Patriots. The Cavaliers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Patriots, too.
Addy Carlson made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Lily Davey was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Taylor Codi was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Archbishop Spalding kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 11.4.
As for John Carroll, they now have a losing record of 5-6. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-6.
On John Carroll's side, Emily Hildt was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Mia Anderson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
