The Franklin Sabers fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Greenfield Hustlin' Hawks on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hustlin' Hawks by a score of 47-44. Franklin was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Greenfield apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Franklin lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lauren Capstran. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds. Capstran scored a full 38.6% of Franklin's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Rachael Jepsen was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 11 rebounds.
Franklin's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Greenfield, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Franklin will be playing in front of their home fans against Racine Case at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Greenfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Milwaukee Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
