Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Eastside walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Rye Cove Eagles on Friday as they made off with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Braelyn Hall made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, Maddie Compton was incredible, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Zoe Sartin was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Eastside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .520. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rye Cove only posted an OBP of .118.
The victory (which was Eastside's ninth in a row) raised their record to 21-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Rye Cove, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-8 record this season.
As of now, neither Eastside nor Rye Cove have any future games scheduled.
