The Stratton Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sierra Grande Panthers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Stratton walked away with it. They blew past Hanover, posting a 56-16 win on the road. The victory was just business as usual for Stratton, who after ten games remain undefeated this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Stratton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Charlie Tagtmeyer, who threw for 46 yards and three touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Cyler Notter was another key contributor, gaining 34 total yards and three touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Stratton's defense and their three sacks. Notter was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Sierra Grande on the road against Arickaree on Saturday as the team secured a 66-20 win. The victory was just what Sierra Grande needed coming off of a 52-22 loss in their prior contest.
Brian Ontiveros went supernova for Sierra Grande, picking up 119 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while also punching in two touchdowns on the ground. Ontiveros was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 63 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Aron Ojeda, who threw for 114 yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Stratton to 10-0 and Sierra Grande to 7-3.
Saturday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Stratton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 255 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Sierra Grande struggles in that department as they've been averaging 183.5 per game. It's looking like Saturday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
