The Lake Catholic Cougars scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They walked away with an 82-72 victory over Cornerstone Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Peyton Budrys rini was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points along with six steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Aiden Webb, who scored 18 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
Cornerstone Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Owen Pugh, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Pugh has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinn Kwasniak, who almost dropped a triple-double on 21 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists.
Lake Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Cornerstone Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
Lake Catholic will be playing in front of their home fans against Padua Franciscan at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Padua Franciscan has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 282 points over their last four matchups. As for Cornerstone Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Fuchs Mizrachi at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. Cornerstone Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 15 contests -- so hopefully Fuchs Mizrachi likes a good challenge.
