Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Xaverian Clippers walked away with it. They came out on top against Holy Cross by a score of 21-14 on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Xaverian.
Xaverian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Chris Duffy out in front who rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Jude Vanooyen, who threw for 180 yards and a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Holy Cross still got an impressive performance from Issac Glaudin, who picked up 81 receiving yards, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Xaverian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Holy Cross, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.
Xaverian will square off against Mt. St. Michael Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New York (Mt. St. Michael Academy is ranked 139th, while Xaverian is ranked 159th). Holy Cross does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
