It was a good run, but the Ket'acik and Aapalluk Memorial Carayiit unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They received a tough blow as they fell 62-44 to Hooper Bay. While losing is never fun, Ket'acik and Aapalluk Memorial can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Hooper Bay is ranked seventh).
It was another big night for Carson Long, who scored 19 points for Hooper Bay. The team also got some help courtesy of Latrell Lake, who scored 12 points.
Ket'acik and Aapalluk Memorial's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Hooper Bay, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
Ket'acik and Aapalluk Memorial's road trip will continue as they head out to face St. Mary's on January 18th. As for Hooper Bay, they will be playing at home against Tikigaq at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Tikigaq's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
