There's no place like home for the Wolfe County Wolves, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Tuesday. They walked away with a 77-69 victory over Powell County on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Wolfe County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Corey Flinchum, who scored 25 points along with seven assists and three steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Flinchum has scored at least 25% of Wolfe County's points. Another player making a difference was David Brown, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds.
Wolfe County now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Powell County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.
Wolfe County and Holy Cross will round out the year against one another at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday at. Holy Cross presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Wolfe County in Kentucky (Holy Cross is ranked 50th, while Wolfe County is ranked 144th). Powell County will finish 2023 at home by hosting Raceland at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
